ELECTION DAY: TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2025
I was born and raised in Kansas City and attended Kansas City public schools. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance, and obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst University. I retired after 33 years of service with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, initially working in the City Manager’s Office and later in the Finance Department.
I have been married for almost 37 years to my wife Gail. While we do not have children of our own, we currently the caregivers of three children in KCPS living with us. I have always been interested in working with youth, including my many nieces, nephews, and the youth at St James United Methodist Church. I served as a youth advisor for many years, emphasizing the importance of education by offering tutoring, attending their extracurricular activities, and serving as chaperone on many college tours. I have maintained relationships with many of the youth who now have families of their own. Additionally, I have worked with the Emerging Leaders conference, the youth conference for the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Foundation.
Now retired, the skills I developed working at the Finance Cooperative Association (Farmland Industries) and in the Budget Office for the City of Kansas City, along with my desire to support Kansas City Public Schools in providing high-quality education to its students, make me qualified to serve on the Board of Directors. I have also had the opportunity to develop relationships with many State and Local Elected officials, as well as corporate partners that could potentially collaborate with KCPS.
Paid for by Committee to Elect Bruce Beatty
